Brexit Party: Putting Other Parties on Notice!

Updated on April 18, 2019

Farage and Batten Will Go Head to Head in EU Polls!

Nigel Farage, left UKIP some time ago, claiming the party had gone too far to the right. In hiring the darling of the far right, Tommy Robinson, as an adviser, to current UKIP leader, Gerard Batten, that seemed to be the final straw for Nigel.

Mr Farage, went and founded his own party, simply known as 'The Brexit Party', what else would he call it? The party was officially launched in Coventry, of all places, though some would say, why not?

On the podium, Nigel Farage spoke at length about his new party, he introduced, Annunziata Rees-Mogg, sister of Arch-Brexiteer and Tory right-winger, Jacob. Annunziata Rees-Mogg has stood as a prospective Tory candidate in the past, but failed to gain a seat in parliament. This time she will hope to gain a seat in the EU Parliament, as an MEP.

With the UK not leaving the EU now until 31st October, (at least in theory) the UK will more than likely, now field candidates from various parties, in the EU election.

The Brexit Party, according to 'YouGov' is by far and away, the leading party. 'YouGov' has the party on 27% compared to Labour on 22, Conservatives on 15, Greens on 10, Lib-Dems on 9 and Change UK (party made up of both Conservatives and Labour MPs) on 6.

In 2014, Mr Farage, when heading UKIP, delivered an unexpected victory to his party, in EU elections. It would appear too, that other parties, in this election, will get a sound thrashing at the polling stations if YouGov's poll is to be believed.

However, regardless of what poll you believe, sometimes polls are not always accurate, Mr Farage, in the EU elections, will be going up against UKIP, his old party. Now it's plain to say, that neither UKIP nor The Brexit Party, will have any time for each other, even though politically when it comes to leaving the EU, they are singing from the same hymn sheet. In response perhaps, to Mr Farage, labelling UKIP as a far-right party, UKIP responded saying that The Party Party, is little more than a vehicle for Nigel Farage.

With the hiring of Tommy Robinson, UKIP would appear to be enjoying a resurgence. Even though the YouGov poll, does not mention UKIP's poll rating if they make good progress in the EU elections, it could split the leave vote, leaving Mr Farage's party to hoover up remaining leave votes.

Are The Brexit Party, like UKIP before them, who was labelled a one issue party, just that? For example, will they field candidates in the local elections? The Brexit Party, like any political party, will only be successful as their votes will carry them.

The Brexit Party.

Founded by Catherine Blaiklock.

Nigel Farage is the leader of the party.
