Updated on February 21, 2020

I have included an affiliate link to Quidco in the article and I receive £5 if you sign up and make your first £5 cashback.

Top Skills That Make A Lot Of Money

I am interested in learning about different ways that one can make money. One thing I’ve researched a lot is: what skills make the most money. We all have some skill another even if we can find it challenging to think of skills that we possess.

But I can assure you that you definitely possess some sort of skill that you can utilise to make you money. If you want to know the skills that can make you some money then keep reading. Also even if you don’ possess these skills you can always learn them they are not exclusive to any particular person.

Making Money Through Writing

Writing is a skill that so many people are using in many different ways to make money: writing for a blog, product descriptions, books, writing articles and so many other ways. Here is an article that gives you ten ways to make money as a beginner writer: New to Freelance Writing? 10 Ways to Make Money as a Beginner.

We all learn to write at school and explore different styles so everyone has the basic writing skills that they can use to make money on the side. If you want to make it a profession or a full tine business then you'll need to be willing to invest to improve your skills just like you will do with anything else.

Writing skills are high sought after to name a few reasons why: we need people to write stories, to write articles on a subject that is filled with knowledge and expertise, to write compelling adverts and so many more. I've just listed a few reasons why this skill is incredible but here is an article on Forbes telling you all about why you should work on your writing skills.

Making Money Through Social Media

Everyone is on social media and if you aren't then you need to get on it ASAP. There are many ways people utilise social media to make financial gain and if you know the ins and outs of a particular social media platform then you can use it to your advantage.

Knowledge of a social media platform is valuable to many businesses and people. For example you can become a social media manager or VA.

These kinds of jobs can be done from home and learning how to use social media can essentially be learnt for free unless of course you would like to invest in your knowledge by learning the more technical and psychological aspects. Here is an article giving you a list of ways you can make money through social media.

There are endless opportunities and ways that you can potentially make a full time income through social media. If this interests you then go and research all about it and make a solid plan you are going to follow to so you can be making a full time income through social media.

Making Money Through Speaking

Are you always being asked for advice? Do you have a lot to say on a topic? Do you enjoy sharing your opinions and talking? If this is you by any means then let me tell you that there is a lot of money to be made by speaking about your opinions and sharing your knowledge.

There is such a large demand for speakers for example in my school we had so many speakers come in and give a talk on many different subjects such as going to university. So if you have been through an experience then you can share all about it and earn some money while doing so.

Speaking to a live audience is just one way but speaking to a virtual one means that the sky is the limit. For example you can make youtube videos where you can share your experiences to a wide audience. Youtube can be monetised through ads and sponsorships and that is how you can get paid to share your advice and opinions.

Podcasting is another fantastic way you can make money while speaking out loud your thoughts. So many people including myself listen to podcasts because they are such an easy way to consume information and learn more.

These are just a few ways you can make money through speaking. This has to be my favourite one out of the three just because I love talking, giving advice and sharing my ideas so if you are the same then consider investing in learning the skill of speaking effectively.

Making Money Through Platforms You've Built Trust

Affiliate marketing has become such a hot topic in the money making field as it's something that anyone can do, if you have an app that you use they give you a referral link or code that you can share with others that will earn you some money.

Most of the apps that give you a link are cashback and app sites there's also programmes such as the Amazon Affiliate programme where you can sign up and share links to products and promote them on any platform such as your own blog (even Hubpages as they allow you to link products from Amazon) or on social media platforms.

You don't have to join hundreds of affiliate programmes there are companies that you use that offer referral bonuses for example I use Quidco (a cashback site) and they offer a link where if someone signs up and earns £5 cashback then you also get £5. So, look at some of the sites and apps you use and see if they offer any sort of referral programme.

One person buying a product or using your code make you literally pennies but once you start driving traffic to the pages and platform that your links are posted on then there's potential to make from Affiliate marketing what you would make at a full time job.

It takes a lot of work to build trust and traffic towards your platform where you are recommending something so you need to be patient and learn about different avenues which you can use to promote your link/ code.

Once you know what you're doing and really build those avenues you can see some serious money coming in, looking through blogger income reports you can see that affiliate marketing brings in a majority of the bloggers income.

Make Money Through Graphic Design

Graphic design is a skill that is constantly in demand - making attractive pinterest pins for brands and individuals looking to grow on pinterest and using it for their business as a marketing strategy; making ads for companies to go onto facebook, instagram or any other platform, creating designs for companies to license; youtube banners, video front page etc.

You can use your graphic design skill to create your own digital products that you can sell on a platform like etsy or even in your own shop, you can sell or license certain images or patterns. It will take time to get it going but if you remain committed then you can really make great money with it.

If you don't have any graphic design skill, then watching youtube videos on the many different design platforms can help you to pick a design software and learn all the ins and out of it. The image at the top of this page was created using Affinity Designer and the images were simply royalty free images taken from Pexel so there's definitely resources out there that you can use to get started.

If you want to create a business that offers design services then you need to post some graphic design examples for your potential client and promote it using visual platforms such as Instagram and pinterest. You can also reach out to people who you believe you can help and when you reach out to them you can direct them to the platform where you have the posts showcasing your design ability.
