Response to Sir Bill's (Billybuc) writing Challenge - The Door to Nowhere
Was it really only Yesterday?
Rolling back the hands of time, I turn back to my teenage times when I used to sneak out through the fire escape door, into the dark engulfing night, en route to my mystic freedom.
Still remember the carefree days when I never did care to think; what would happen if my parents caught me? What happens if the rustic fire escape steps broke? What happens if I fell from the 10 story high building while coming down the fire escape steps?
Such was the magic of teenage, where being with friends, hanging out in the dark, partying the night out, dancing till you fall off, all made much more sense.
At, times lying down on the grass with the girl of your dreams and watching the stars whole night, made more sense than saving money to buy a home or paying off your monthly bills!
I loved the door so much that it became a part of my life. Opening the mystic door and moving out gave ultimate feeling of happiness to my heart. As the day passed by and the rays of Sun faded off, giving way to the twinkling stars along with the icicle rays of the moon, My heart beats started beating faster with the thought engulfing my mind that it’s time to open the door and bathe in the limitless joy of my freedom.
Even today I can feel the scar in my hands left by the rustic ladder and the steps of the fire escape, but now it’s just a mark not and nothing more.
And Time changes everything and it did change me too, being a son for whom the fire escape door was the door to freedom, I became a concerned Dad, for whom the door now became ‘The Door to Nowhere!!’
