Planets in Aries Part One: Ascendant, and Mercury

I have been playing this scenario in my head based on the other 5 personal astrology planets (other than your sun sign). When you first meet someone what planet do you see? Do you see the sun sign, moon sign, ascendant sign, etc? It is tricky to say what sign you meet first but I’ll take a go at it. Perhaps maybe this scenario can make sense to others as it makes sense to me.

When someone first meet you (and vice versa) they meet your ascendant sign. After a while once they get to talking with you they meet your mercury sign. It is on this occasion you laugh, joke, and get to know each other more. After you both depart, deciding that you both like each other and want to meet up somewhere. You both suggest places to go and agree on a place. Later on they meet you, decide that they like you even more and meet several times with you. It is on these occasions when they meet your sun sign and your basic personality. You hang out, have fun and they get to see your Mars sign in action. After a while they get to know you more personally, soon becoming close friends. It is there that they get to see and notice both your Venus and Moon signs, while getting a taste of the darker sides of your mars and mercury signs.

In this scenario I will be talking about Ascendant/Rising, and Mercury, in the zodiac sign of Aries. This does not specifically refer to the sun sign in Aries (some similarities may apply however).

Your ascendant/rising is Aries, so your first house will most likely be in Aries and ruled by Mars. Aries as ruled by Mars is a strong, bold sign. So you will look and act bold, confident and strong. The women with Ascendant in Aries, will have a slight masculine flair to their appearance and the men with look extra masculine.

You will look athletic and tough (not in the Scorpio scary way), but in the simple, straight-forward, step to my face if you can kind of way.

Take Lucy Lawless (Xena the warrior princess), her sun is in the sign Aries and her ascendant is also in Aries. She looks and acts tough and strong, whether through her Hollywood roles or in pictures. You will appear dominant and you will definitely be doing your own thing. You are the leader of the pack, naturally, your Aries ascendant will definitely take charge and isn’t afraid of appearing powerful and being in charge. You are not concerned as being pretty or popular and you come as you are. You are unapologetic about who you are and what you are about.

Sometimes you may rub people the wrong way but for the people that can take it, they will like how direct and trustworthy you are. As a Mars-ruled you don’t wait for things to happen, you make things happen. Loud, confident and competitive by nature, you radiant strength and self-assurance; people will definitely flock to you, because of the bold energy you give off. Even so, people may also run from you (especially if they are weaker-minded people) because you do not shy away from anything and you definitely call someone out. People can find that an off-putting trait and quality but this is part of who you are. People often forget that Aries is the baby of the zodiac, so they miss the fun-loving, playful inner child that you can be. Overall Ascendant/Rising in Aries is very similar to Aries sun sign. Even so, you have to remember this is the zodiac sign that you first appear like to others. It’s how you first act around others, not necessarily who you are on the inside.

Your Mercury in Aries, so you communicate and think in a Arian/Martian way. You think and speak in a very direct, honest and competitive way. As a fire sign mercury your way of thinking and speaking is passionate, bold and fiery. Mercury in Aries is an original, individual thinker and communicator. You definitely speak from your heart and mind. You don’t hold back or hold your tongue. This can cause you to appear tactless and vulgar with no filter. They will be loud, crass, with a mouth of a sailor. Mercury in Aries doesn’t think before they speak, they tend to vomit words out.

Even so, Mercury in Aries is very straightforward, honest and forthcoming. They will be one of the first of the mercury signs to let you know how they feel. If you need an honest opinion, they will give it to you. They won’t spread callous and malicious rumors about you and won’t talk about you behind your back. They will say whatever it is they have to say to your face. This may seem like a bad thing, but in the long run it isn’t. The Arian mercury don’t believe in holding things in and they are not afraid of backlash. Oftentimes they welcome backlash, and they can sometimes enjoy it. They understand that holding things back is unhealthy and can lead to holding grudges and resentments. They feel its best to clear the air before things get ugly and out of control. They also don’t set out to hurt people with their words, it just kind of happens.

If the mercury in Aries has hurt you (especially if you are important to them); the mercury in Aries will be the first to apologize and move on. Contrary to popular belief Aries (no matter what planet placement) is not a hateful, sneaky, calculating sign. They may say or do things out of anger, but it’s the spurt of the moment thing. It will not be something planned and thought out, because it isn't there intentions to hurt you. It is more like them asserting their opinions at that direct moment. Even so most of the time you will know what is going on inside their head. They will not shock or surprise you with anything and they hope you can give them the same respect and regard to be completely honest with them too. Even so, Mercury in Aries has the mind and communication skills of an active, quick, direct, honest and passionate thinker.
