What is NFL ? Basic Understanding of NFL
NFL is a short form of National Football League. NFL is a professional american league. It consists 16 teams from NFC and AFC each. NFC is a National Football Conference and AFC is American Football Conference. NFL season is usually about 17 weeks long. It starts from the week after Labor day each year to the week after Christmas. Total 32 teams play equal number of games in NFL. Winner of AFC and NFC play for Superbowl each year in the month of February. NFL is a very popular game in America. It has huge fan following even in corporate culture.

There are total thirty two teams equally divided between AFC and NFC. Both AFC and NFC have teams in four divisions: North, South, East and West. So each division have total 8 teams: 4 from AFC and 4 from NFC. Here are those teams as below. Some teams have huge popularity. Scores in NFL games are mostly based on touchdowns and field goals. For each touchdown a team gets 7 points. Each field goal a team gets three extra points after touchdowns. Each team gets 4 attempts to move 10 yards. If a team move 10 yards within their 4 attempts then they will get another 4 attempts to move next 10 yards. A team can select to go with a field goal depending upon the game situation.

In each division, all four teams play fourteen out of sixteen games with each others. The other two games decided by previous year standing and they are intraconferance games. NFL starts in early September to the week after Christmas.
