Because You're Worth It. Hair Colouring Advice That Works.

Updated on February 1, 2013

Because you're worth it.

What a great catch phrase for hair colour and beauty products. One which sticks in the mind and is an instant memory jogger for the products of L'Oreal. However, having not tried the products of the aforementioned company this is the last time I will make reference to the company, other hair colour products are available as they say. It is worth saying at this juncture that my experience of these products is limited to those of a company called Garnier Paris. The product we are interested here obviously is hair dye. Not my usual source of inspiration for an article but for a few years now I have been colouring Tracey, my wife's hair, with great results.

If you follow the recommended instructions you too will get great results. As always I hope to give you advice that works.

If this is your first effort at hair colouring and you are worried that you may not be happy with the results then ask yourself this question. Am I happy with my current colour ? If you answer yes then why change it ? If you are covering grey then it is a no brainer. These colours will definitely cover the grey. If you are still unsure imagine for a moment how much better you will feel with grey hair gone. If we look good to ourselves then we tend to feel good.

Some people, me included, are prepared to grow old gracefully whilst many are not. This is written with the latter in mind. As well as looking nice you will also want to smell nice as well. Newly published is my article in this niche on perfumes and where the raw materials come from. Give yourself a treat and don't forget to take a look by clicking on the highlighted blue link for my article about perfume manufacture.

How to colour hair.

Colouring hair is simple so long as you follow the instructions and do not deviate. Modern hair colours are becoming more and more sophisticated and choosing ever more complicated. Experience tells me once you find the right colour and you are happy with it, keep using it. The results you will get will be amazing and so much cheaper than a visit to the Salon.

# 1 Read all the information before getting started.

# 2 Use any safety gloves provided.

# 3 Wear old clothing.

# 4 Cover carpets or floor covering so as not to stain if splashed.

# 5 Mix the ingredients as per the instructions and agitate the mix as necessary.

# 6 Apply the colour evenly putting more on areas affected by grey.

# 7 Wipe any excess away from facial areas and skin as it may stain if left.

# 8 Make sure all hair is covered with solution.

# 9 Leave on for correct amount of time. Be sure to set stop watch.

# 10 Follow recommendations for final preparations, e.g washing in conditioner and rinsing.

There you have it a new you. It maybe that your colour looks slightly lighter or even a bit darker than expected. Usually it is because of the time fluctuations, a few minutes either side of the prescribed time. This usually rectifies itself in a few days if the colour appears darker. If it is lighter then there isn't a lot more you can do until next time when you colour it again.
