Football Transfer Gossip

Updated on June 4, 2013

Here we keep you up to date with some of the biggest transfer rumors, surrounding the English Premier League. Who's going, who's staying, who's refusing to sign another contract, media allegations and sightings of players in opposition training facilities.

Neymar Unveiled by Barcelona

Falcao to Monaco (Confirmed)

After much speculation over the past few months, Falcao has chosen to go with the newly mega rich AS Monaco, a club whose stocks are undoubtedly on the up and whether he has gone for money or to be part of the formation of a new super rich super team it can't be said.

Falcao was widely expected to go to Chelsea however the deal never formulated and he clearly didn't want to go to rivals Real Madrid.

Fabregas to? Arsenal? Man Utd?

Cesc Fabregas has reportedly grown tired of only receiving a bit role part at Barcelona, after nearly a decade of being the first name on the team sheet at Arsenal, conflicting reports suggest he may return to be a gunner once again, however other reports suggest he may be looking for a new challenge and be more interested in following Robin Van Persie to Manchester United, as David Moyes will be equally interested in acquiring his services to fill the void left by Paul Scholes.

Begovic to Manchester United?

Increased rumors are spreading that Ferguson may have lost patience with David De Gea and is now looking in the market for a more ready made keeper in the form of Stoke City's Begovic.

Ferguson is likely to deny any rumors, as the window is now closed and he must look to show faith in his current Nr1 but rumors suggest that he may look to offload De Gea in and the summer as an abandoned project, this could all just be false speculation or maybe there is some truth to it and it will depend on his performance for the rest of the season, if United are to squander their impressive lead in the EPL this season, his competence will be surely brought into question. However it may not so much be a replacement for David De Gea, as relegating him to 2nd choice keeper, but this may leave Lindegard wondering what his role is for Manchester United.

Marouane Fellaini Prompts Chelsea to Make a Bid for him

Everton have a battle on their hands to keep hold of their Star man Marouane Fellaini, as he adds to speculation of his departure by subtly saying that he would consider a move to another EPL club and prompting Chelsea to actually make a bid and put their money where their mouth is

"If Chelsea want me, they need to come up with something, but they have not done so far. For now, I am very happy with Everton. We are fifth, and if we can climb just one more place, and stay there, we can look forward to playing in the Champions League."

At the same time suggesting that he may stay at Everton, providing that they acquire Champions League football but finishing top 4 this season, Everton currently lie in 5th place, so the dream of Champions League Football is very much alive, it is likely that we will have to wait til the end of the season to see this one out but should Everton fail to gain ECL status, a move to Chelsea or Arsenal who are also an admirer of the belgian international, appear imminent. Fellaini arrived for a total of £15,000,000 and so Everton boss David Moyes will be sure to be wanting to seek a profit on a player who is undeniably growing in Prestiege.

"People are talking about Chelsea as if I have already signed, but I am an Everton player, and maybe I will finish the three years left on my contract. If I do end up leaving, it would be up to the club to decide on the price. I have all sorts of clauses in my contract, but there is no fixed fee for releasing me."

David Beckham to PSG

At the age of 37, David Beckham still draws headline news with his transfers and remarkably is still being transfered to the Stella clubs in world Football. PSG have boasted an almost uncapped transfer budget, with the ability to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo if they so wanted, yet it is perhaps surprising that they have gone for the now ageing Football sensation that is David Beckham, however it is anticipated that his Shirt sales will go someway to covering his expenses and the extra ticket sales further more so.

David Beckham insisted that he would never return to the EPL, unless it was for Manchester United but with manager Alex Ferguson clearly not showing any interest in rekindling the love affair, Beckham was forced into a move elsewhere, however its none to surprising that once again he finds himself in a Fashion capital, Milan, Madrid, New York and now Paris, so perhaps Posh is still pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Becks has reportedly decided to donate his 3 Million wages to a kids charity and considering he is a loyal father, it may be fair to say that it is his patriarchal self which is acting, however it'll be sure to do no harm for his PR and will hardly dent the Posh-Becks empire.

Jack Butland to Stoke

Jack Butland has moved to Premier League outfit Stoke FC but will be loaned back to Birmingham for the remainder of the season. Stoke already have a highly sought after keeper in Begovic, which begs the question (Pardon the pun), is he there to learn from Begovic or is he there as a potential replacement for him in the following season!?

Jack Butland really caught the eye in the 2012 Olympics and gained an England cap at the incredibly young age of 18, particularily young for a Goalkeeper. A Premier league club is clearly a step up for Jack Butland and one which he expected to rise to but only time will tell.

Danny Graham to Sunderland

Danny Graham has made the anticipated switch to Sunderland for a fee of around 5 million. Graham has found himself somewhat surplus to requirements this season under new manager Brian Laudrup, largely inpart to the purchase of Michu, who has kept Graham out of the team with some great performances, its possible that Graham just doesnt fit the philosophy of current manager Laudrup because he has found himself going from key player to unwanted, despite no real dip in form.

Sunderland fans should welcome the signing of Graham, who should aim to take some of the pressure off Steven Fletcher, who has provided the majority of their goals this season, unlike most managers, Martin O'Neill is not silly enough to spot what is going wrong and heed the advice of fellow professionals to get another Striker, to solve their obvious lack of firepower upfront.

Chris Samba to QPR

QPR have broken their transfer record fee once again to bring in a very famillar face to the EPL In Chris Samba, the ex Blackburn player clearly hasn't enjoyed his time in Russia too much and is missing the EPL. Samba is a monster in the air and undeniable presence, Harry will be hoping that he can add some steel to the back 4.

Arsenal Sign Monreal

Nacho Monreal signed for Arsenal for a fee of around 8.5 Million on the final day of the transfer window, he is relatively unknown to the regular EPL fan but it is assumed now that anything Spanish must be Golden, if Michu cost 2 Million, then just how good will this 8.5 Million left back be!

Liverpool Sign Countinho

Perhaps not the biggest shock in the transfer window, as the deal has been ongoing for several days now, though it did look like it wasn't going to go through but we can now officially confirm that the ex Inter Milan player has now signed for Liverpool Football Club. It took the expected £8,500,000 to prise the Young Brazilian midfielder away from Inter, in a change from their recent ethos of recruiting young English players, Liverpool have gone for a touch of flair from the South continent.

Jermaine Jenas to QPR

Jermaine Jenas becomes another in the long list of players to follow Harry Redknapp around from club to club, it is clear that he repays his players and they too get on with him well enough to want to continually work with him.

Jenas has become a forgotten figure in Football after his very promising burst into the EPL, finding top form with Newcastle but has never really been able to recapture this, can he help QPR survive by getting back to his best?

Norwich Sign Becchio

Luciano Becchio follows ex Leeds United team mates Johnny Howson, Bradley Johnson and Robert Snodgrass in their exodus to Norwich City, clearly loosing patience with the West Yorkshire clubs progress in getting back into the EPL.

Mario Baloteli to AC Milan

Well the love affair between England and Mario Baloteli has finally come to an end, much later than expected if most must admit, after consistent bust ups with manager Mancini and displays of poor professionalism, one thing is for sure though, the EPL will miss this character in one form or another.

Manchester United tie up Zaha deal

Manchester United have won the chase for Zaha but that may be due to the arguably inflated price tag for the Championship player, will he go on to be one of Fergies magical signings or will he go the way of Diego Forlan.

Liverpools bid for Countinho accepted

The Liverpool-Countinho saga is back on and it is believed that inter have accepted a transfer bid in the region of around £8,500,000.

Falcao to Madrid?

The latest transfer rumor surrounding Falcao is that he has been spotted talking to representatives of the Real Madrid, Falcao has denied these claims but then that would probably be wise, since the two clubs share the same city, Real Madrid are actually 1 place behind Falcao's current club, so would it really be a progression for him and to a rival club would be sure to make him unpopular with the Athletico faithful.

Wesley Sneijder agrees with Galatasaray

The long boring Wesley Sneijder transfer saga which has been brought up every single transfer window for the past couple of years, the news is in and he HAS now officially agreed terms with the turkish club.

Zaha Bid Accepted

Manchester United at the first club to have a bid accepted by Crystal Palace, for the highly chased Wilfried Zaha, it is estimated that it took a bid in the region of 15 million and a clause that allows Palace to take Zaha back for the remainder of the season on loan.

Coutihnio to Liverpool?

Rumours suggest that this young brazilian prodigy is being hunted by Liverpool, however further reports suggest that the Brazilian international wishes to remain at Inter Milan

Frank Lampard to Manchester United?

It has long since been known that Frank Lampard might leave Chelsea at the end of the season, the London Blue legend has been synominous with the club ever since his transfer from West Ham and has been a key player for them, however last season's arrival of new manager Andre Villas Boas, saw the Chelsea Talisman dropped to the bench repeatedly and no longer was he considered first choice for his national team, a position and role which he had dominated since arguably 2004, Suddenly his age was coming into question and his ability to continue at the top level, despite his performances and stats not actually being reflective of this, Frank used this doubt and speculation as fuel for the fire and made an statement nearly every time he managed to get on the pitch, the sacking on AVB saw him restored to key player status, which ultimately led to them winning the European Champions League in 2012, it is possible that those demons are forever present in Frank, that he is well aware that at some point owner Roman Abromovic and whichever current manager will once again decide he is too old and may seek refuge at rivals Manchester United, where Midfielders are worshiped for many more years to come, the likelihood is that Frank will go on a free transfer at the end of his contract this summer, initial rumors suggested he would go to China or USA in search of a high salary contract, in a less demanding league, as many have done before him, however new information indicates he doesn't feel he is ready to wind down just yet and may switch to rivals Manchester United, who could certainly benefit from the goals he brings from Midfield.

Wesley Sneijder in Talks with Galatasaray

Turkish club Galatasaray have announced that they have had an bid for Dutchman Wesley Sneijder accepted by Inter Milan and are currently in talks with the player, it is thought that the fee is around 10 Million Euro's. Sneijder is on a contract til 2015 but it has been public knowledge for a long time now that he is unhappy and wants to move and the club likewise are looking to offload him to free up his £200,000 wage, he will be almost certain to have to take a wage cut wherever he goes but its likely he will just be relieved to be playing regular football again. At such a low price, considering the current market, it will be a surprise if no other club challenges them for the World cup runners up medal holder.

Manchester United have long since chased Sneijder as a replacement for Paul Scholes and have continually been linked to him every single transfer window for years now and now that the clubs asking price is expected to have greatly dropped in an attempt to quickly offload him, Ferguson may now feel that the deal represents value, Liverpool, Man City and Spurs may reportedly join the race to get his signature but who will be most willing to splash the cash.

Sneijder was one of the hottest properties in World Football after his pivotal role in Hollands runner up medal in the 2010 World cup in South Africa, since though he had a terrible time at Euro2012 and now finds himself on the bench at Inter, since falling out with the management. At 28 years old however, he should still be considered hot property in the world of Football.

Spurs make £10,000,000 bid for Zaha

Spurs and Andre Villas Boas are not in the mood for messing about, as they become the first club to launch an actual bid for the highly rates and much chased Championship star, other suitors include Manchester United and Chelsea, so they could find tough competition but so far nobody else has put a bid in place and AVB will be hoping to speed the deal along. A deal has been made where by should Spurs sign him, they are to immediately loan him back to the Championship club, so he can finish off the season he started with them and help them gain EPL status.

David Beckham to West Ham?

Football superstar and mega icon David Beckham has flirted with the idea of a return to the English Premier League for quite a while now and perhaps it is the lure of living in another capital city of London, as he failed a medical to join Tottenham Hotspur in recent years. Speculation that he would join West Ham under Sam Allardyce increased after he was spotted in the stands watching their FA Cup clash against Manchester United, normally people would be wondering if this means he would be rejoining the club which he loves and played for, for the best part of his career but the general consensus is that he is longer up to the calibre of being a new signing for Manchester United, despite Giggs and Scholes still being on the payroll, many England fans would simply love to see him return to the EPL, regardless of the shirt he pulls on, however speculation also continues that he may once again chase the money rather than nostalgia and follow Drogba and Anelka to Shanghai Shenua.

Zaha to Manchester United?

Zaha earnt his way into the Manchester United Shortlist in 2011 when he excelled to help Crystal Palance dump United out of the League cup. He has since then continued to perform in the Championship, helping to make him the hottest property in lower league Football. It is likely that Manchester United will be keeping on eye on him to make sure that no other clubs get hold of a young talent and will probably be prompted to take action should another club make an offer but one thing is for sure, Zaha is a wanted man and he may very well have outgrown his pastures at Crystal Palace.

Tottenham set to sign GER U21 Star Lewis Holtby

The German U21 international's contract is set to expire in the summer and Spurs have beaten everyone to the race to get his signature, so long as he passes his medical. Spurs have rejected David Beckham in recent years for failing a medical but surely there won't be any major concerns with the 22 Year old. Lewis' dad is English, however the Schalke midfielder has so far chosen to play for Germany.

Chamakh to West Ham on Loan

Maraoune Chamakh has been sent to West Ham on a season long loan. His Arsenal career has gone remarkably downhill after such a prolific start. Himself and manager alike will be hoping that he can rekick start his career at West Ham and get some game time under his belt. West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is keen to simply add squad depth to a squad which has struggled to cope with the busy fixture list around the xmas window. Big Sam has had to resort to placing his reserve players on the benches as injury crisis's strike.

Demba Ba signs for Chelsea FC

Demba Ba has now officially made the Switch to Chelsea FC. Chelsea have managed to sell Sturridge for 12 million and replace him with Demba Ba for 7 million, it seems the days of doing silly transfers and splashing unneccasary cash is over for this club, who are no doubt a little more cautious of spending big on strikers after Fernando Torres, so where will Demba Ba fit into Benitez's plans, he has already stated his intention to throw Ba straight into the lineup in Torres' place but was keen to state that it was only because he feels that Torres could do with a rest.

Joe Cole Signs for West Ham

The deal has now officially gone through, Joe Cole is once again a West Ham player, can he revive his career under Big Sam!

Arsenal Set to Offload Djourou and Squillaci

After a dismal start to their Arsenal careers, Manager Arsene Wenger has finally given up faith in the 2 defenders and has admitted quite openly that they are looking to offload them in the coming transfers windows. Arsene must ensure that his next investments in defense, prove to be better ones, as it is not long since Squillaci arrived at the club but even he can't deny that him and his scouting team made a blunder is signing him. Fans may be looking at a few other of the flop Arsenal signings and wondering if they too should be offloaded to make funds for a real star player and leader, that can help drive their club back towards the summit of the English Premier league.

Who would win in a fight

Balotelli to ?

Pictured right, a bust up between Balotelli and Mancini in training, sparked after a bad tackle by Mario on fellow team mate Scott Sinclair. Even though it was Mancini who instigated the bust up, it is unlikely that they will recover from this one. Balotelli has had scraps with Micah Richards in training, Kolarov on the pitch and thrown many a dirty look to Mancini as he skulks off the pitch but this time just might be the straw that broke the camels back and his recent omission from the squad paints a glum picture for their relationship.

Talks have been on Mario returning to Italy with Milan showing some interest, however should he stay in the EPL, he fits the bill for what Alan pardew is looking for in a replacement for Demba Ba, stating that he is after a 'Strong and Fast Forward'. Arsenal and Liverpool may also benefit from more depth upfront and despite his volatile character, there is always likely to be at least one club that is willing to gamble on his undoubted talent, which was on full display against Germany in the Semi final of the Euro 2012 campaign for his national team Italy.

Will Balotelli stay?

Joe Cole to West Ham?

Cole has gone for a medical at his old club West Ham. This will come as bad news for his then manager Harry Redknapp. However Joe will be reunited with the club itself rather than his old manager and it will be a welcome addition for big Sam Allardyce, as West Ham as thin across the ground in squad depth. At West Ham, he was touted as the most exciting and promising thing in English Football, he was training with the first team at the age of 15 and big big things were expected of this wonderkid, sadly his career never really reached the heights that were expected, can he now revive it at the club where it began?

Demba Ba to Chelsea?

It is no secret that Demba Ba has wanted away from Newcastle and has a £7,000,000 Minimum release clause in his contract, Demba Ba is one of the leading scorers so far in 2012-13 and is seemingly a bargain at £7,000,000 given the inflation in the market at the moment, Ba will provide support to or even replace hit and miss striker Fernando Torres.

Chelsea had only just denied speculation that they wanted Ba but are back interested and are reported to have made an offer which triggered the Release fee, it will be extremely surprising if no other clubs join them in the pursuit, as he offers great value at 7 million.

Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool confirmed!

Hardly a shock transfer or a secret one, Sturridge has been surplus to requirements at Chelsea ever since AVB left. Its a great signing for Liverpool, in the sense that they need another forward player to take some of the load of off Luis Suarez and provide cover incase he becomes injured, some fans are however questioning whether he is worth £12,000,000 but when they paid 35 and 20 mil for the likes of Andy Carroll and Downing respectively...

"I've signed to be here for as long as possible. It's a humongous club - for me, one of the biggest in the world - and to have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing."

Retweeted Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker):

If Daniel Sturridge becomes the player he thinks he is, he could be one hell of a signing for Liverpool.

Joe Cole to QPR?

Harry Redknapp looks as though one of his first targets in the window will be Joe Cole, whom he gave his debut to as West Ham manager all those years ago but he was cautious not to appear desperate for him, Liverpool having got him on a Free will probably not require much money for him but the high wage that Joe Cole is on, may prove to be a stumbling block for Harry and QPR, despite having rich owners, Coles recent performances are not representative of his current wage, he would have to take a cut to switch to QPR and Liverpool might well just be considering subsidizing some of his wage bill to facilitate the switch to QPR, which would at least see them free up SOME resources, as Cole has yet to start a single game in EPL for Liverpool this season, with only Cameo appearances in the Europa League, it might prove to be logical to offload him any means possible.

"I've got a lot of time for Joe, as a player and a person, he's a good lad to have around your football club, a good player," said Redknapp.

"He's interesting me. I'd like to bring him here if we could. We'll see what happens.

"The deal would have to be right for the club. We couldn't do a deal with Liverpool with what his contract is at Liverpool. We'd have to try to find a way of doing a deal with Liverpool, if they're willing to let him go.

Xabi Alonso to Liverpool?

Alonso is tied to the Spanish giants til the summer of 2014 but has come out on record to state that he would welcome a move back to the English Premier league

"There is always a chance I could go back to the Premier League as I always enjoyed good times there."

Alonso is still held in such high regard by former club Liverpool and their faithful and the clubs deterioration since his departure has left many fans wondering if they under appreciated the Spanish midfielder during his spell at the club and it is now a widely accepted theory, that Torres' drop in goal scoring form is partially due to not having the same kinds of service that he received from Alonso at Club and international level.

Transfer Window Due to Open Midnight 31/12/12

"The second transfer window commences at midnight on the 31 December and ends on the 31 January if a working day, and again, if not, on the first working day thereafter, at a time determined by the Board."

The rumor mill looks set to be going as crazy as ever, as mass millions are thrown around in a crazy January month, where teams will have had the past 3-4 months to analyse their weaknesses and area's for improvement and will finally get their chance to address them in the January Market.

Harry Redknapp Poised

Harry has earned a reputation for being prolific in the transfer market and his wheeling and dealing, he always seems to manage to find great value in the market and help turn clubs fortunes around in the process.

Harry took over QPR a few games ago and sees the club is a perilous position and under performing, he will be sure to want to bring in a few changes and put his stamp on the club and with the backing of millionaire owners, he is sure to be given a decent amount of support to build a team in his own image, after inheriting the wreckage from previous manager Mark Hughes, Who will Redknapp go for?
