Value is most important for success

How values affect our success

Values and Success

Values in life or culture mean beliefs about what is right and wrong and what is important in life. (For example - moral values.) Values plays a vital role in the success of a person. We love people around us. One of the reason for our love is a set of values they hold. Values like honesty, integrity and truthfulness etc.

When you meet a person you cannot predict what he is all about. But after spending more time with him, you'll understand what kind of a person he is. Whether you can trust him or not. Whether you can relay on him or not etc. We constantly analyzing a person when he talks or acts on different subjects and situations. Knowingly or unknowingly you are evaluating his values which he hold. Then you take a decision whether you can trust him or not. Our actions and talks express our values.

When you come to know that your friend is telling lies very often, you take a stand that you cannot trust him fully. From his dealings, from his talk, you come to know about his values. We cannot trust people who are telling lies frequently. They may be telling you lies about many things. They are very poor in the area of the value of truth.

A survey at the United States shows that voters would be reluctant to elect an atheist as a president. It suggests that belief in God is a value for the people of USA. Different countries and cultures hold different values. Value of one country may be the exact opposite to another country. In India, people value family relations that is why you find many joint families in India.

Different culture has different values. Value reflects a person's sense of right and wrong. Values also reflect how one ought to be. Phrases like "equal rights for all", "people should be treated equally" etc. are the reflection of a person's values.

Values of the organization you work for may affect your productiveness and enthusiasm in your performance. For example, if you value equal right for all and you work in an organization where managers are treated with more regard and workers are not respected or treated well, then you may have created an attitude in your mind that the organization is an unfair place to work for. This will affect your performance in your work.

On the other hand, if you are working with an organization where people of all levels are treated equally then you may hold a positive attitude towards the organization and it could boost your performance at work.

Why values are important for the success of our life? Our values affect our decisions sometimes unconsciously as well as consciously. If you value truth, you will always tell the truth which will attract many people who value truth. If you are a liar, you'll attract people of the same value. That will affect your business or career.

In order to succeed, you need to find the core value of different areas of your life. For example: Family value, Health value, money value, spiritual value, career value, Personal development value etc.

Values like Tidiness, Traditionalism, unity, uniqueness, carefulness, determination, satisfaction, security, self-control, justice, integrity, stability, Love, making a difference, willingness, punctuality, recognition, privacy, respect, honesty, integrity etc may come up while you brainstorming to find out your core value. Find out or determine the value you want to adopt and stick to it in all circumstance. That is the sure way of success.

See, successful people like Warren Buffett, Oprah Winfrey, Richard Branson, and others have some core values like commitment, hard work, self-reliance, discipline etc. which help them to get where they are today. You need to watch them closely to find out their core values. Having no discipline is the reason for the failure of 65% of the people on this planet. If you are in that group, making discipline your core value, which could get you in the higher levels of success.

People fight for their values. You see in Egypt people are fighting for their value. You get your value from your parents in the early stage of child hood. Then you get value from your teachers and friends. Then you get your value from your colleagues and boss or from your business partners.

When you see that your colleagues are coming late to the office and not having any problem, there are chances that you may adjust your values by coming late. There is a shift in the value of punctuality which may affect your success. It is unpredictable when you suffer from that shift. Unexpectedly you may suffer for that change in your value.

The power of value is that makes the society strong and united. Laws are created based on our values. Wars are waged for protecting the values of the community. Groups are formed through the shared set of values.

Your like and dislike of a person are based on his or her values. You love your spouse if he/she holds the value of faithfulness. Lack of value is one of the problems of this present age. Families are torn apart due to the lack of values. Countries divided. Groups split due to the difference in value.

Leaders emerged because of their values like honesty, integrity, respect for others and self-reliance etc. People love leaders because of their values. They are the right people, who say the right thing at the right time.

If you really want success, this is the time to give a closer look at your values. If you lack values, this is the time to set it right. Analyze where you are and adopt strong values in your life and succeed.

The greatest value a Man can Have.

Faith in a just and righteous God is the greatest value a man can hold in his life. Faith in a Just and Righteous God means Fear of God who judges righteously. We all have to stand in front of God ultimately. God will judge and give us rewards according to our work. If we do good, god will give you good gifts. If you do bad, God will reward you accordingly. Let us see what Jesus said about having values in life.

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

"Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

One of the greatest value a man can have is to have compassion towards the fellow being while living in this world. Take good care of them, visit them, provide whatever you can and love them. Whatever we do for one of the least of a human being is treated as you done for the God.

In short fear of God or faith in God is the greatest value as it includes many values which we need to fulfill in order to have a great relationship with God. A man who fears God will be righteous, honest, loving and compassionate. Having faith in God means you have to fulfill certain responsibilities towards men too in order to maintain a great relationship with God.

If you are not having values, you cannot please God. To have a fulfilling and complete relation with God, you need to fulfill certain responsibilities entrusted by God towards men.

The greatest value you can have is to have faith in a Just and Righteous God who judges righteously.

Salt of the earth and the light of the world

Lack of faith in God is the greatest issue mankind is facing now. Crime and enmity are increasing day by day in this world. There is no regard for the life of fellow human being. Just for profit, people contaminate food products. For-profit and good sales, people color/polish fruits and vegetables. For a little bit of money, people kill each other. We contaminate the nature for gaining more money only to put it in the bank account. We leave all those money in the hand of the next generation. We don't know how they use it.

There is no value for a relationship in this world. People change their spouses like changing clothes. There is neither love nor purity.

The good news is that little people who hold values can make a difference in this world. They are the salt of the earth. Light of the world.
